早坂と申します。
ノートPCでVine2.6を使用しているのですが、
あるタイミングでX-Windowを起動しようとしたらエラーになり
起動しなくなってしまいました。
rootユーザでは正常に起動できるのですが、
その他の一般ユーザで起動しようとするとエラーになってしまいます。
以前までは一般ユーザでもX-Windowが使用できていました。
何のタイミングでX-Windowが起動しなくなってしまったのかもわからないでいます。
起動はコマンドラインからstartxで起動していましたが、
xinitで起動しても症状は同じで、以下のようなメッセージが出力されます。
エラーメッセージここから-----------------------------------------------------
Fatal server error:
PAM authentication failed, cannot start X server.
Perhaps you do not have console ownership?
When reporting a problem related to a server crash, please send
the full server output, not just the last messages.

giving up.
xinit: No such file or directory (errno 2): unable to connect to X server
xinit: No such process (errno 3): Server error.
エラーメッセージここまで-----------------------------------------------------
PAMの認証で失敗しているようなメッセージに思えたので
/etc/pam.d 以下のファイルも見てみたのですがどこがどう悪いのかわかりません。
