VineLinux2.5をインストールする過程でつまずきました。
環境は，Pentium133MHzのPCにMITSUBISHI RDT173Mのモニタを使って
インストールを試みていますが，XFree86がエラーを出して先に進みません。
テキストモードでインストールもしてみました。
インストールは無事に完了しました。
再立ち上げ後，コンソールの画面から何をすればいいのでしょうか。
XFree86のメッセージは大体こんな感じです。
XFree86 のメッセージが出るということは、コンソールから startx を
したということですか。Xconfigurator で X の設定をする前に。
Vine2.5をインストールする際に通常（textでもlowrezでもない）
のモードを選んだ((1)とします)ら，すぐに背景黒，文字青になってインストーラ
が終了します。
あきらめて，テキストモードでインストールしても，
% kon
% Xconfigurator
((2)とします)で同様の結果になります。こちらは，「Xの設定に問題があります」と
出ます。全体的に青みがかった画面になります。
起動中の画面で左上に Vine のアイコンが現れる場合は、起動後
コンソールから kon をやらずに、 Xconfigurator。
アイコンが現れない場合は、コンソールから
kon
Xconfigurator
で、たいてい何とかなるものですけれど。

Xconfigurator を実行したら、青い文字が出たということですか。

最後に物騒な文字が並んでいるので，むやみにretryしてモニタを
壊したりしたら目も当てられません。
レポートをxfree86に送ってくださいとありますから，
送ってみたら，なにかうれしいお手紙がもらえるのでしょうか。
モニタ以外は，VineLinux1.1で動作していたマシンなのでそれほど
奇抜なことはしていないのです。このモニタがきっと相性が悪いの
だろうと思いますが。
あ，そうネットワークカードを認識しなくなってしまい，さらに
墓穴を掘りつづけています。
それから、ビデオカードは何なんでしょうか。ビデオメモリの量は？
昔，人から譲り受けたマシンなので詳細はわからない部分がありますが，
1996年当時のP/I-P55T2P4 Rev 2.1というマザーボードに
えっと，Diamond Stealth64 Video VRAMとフロッピーに書いています
ので，それだと思います。
ビデオメモリの容量は，わかりません。どこを見ればいいのかな。
