この、kernelの入れ換えはaptでやりましたか?
それとも、ftpから直接取ってきた物をいれましたか?

もしも、後者ならaptでkernelを入れてみて下さい。

この際に、linux acpi=off noapic と入力してみて下さい。

※注意点:acpiとapicをスペルを間違えないように........

これでも、動作しない場合はBIOSのPnP OS という項目をNo(あるいはDisabled)
にして、上記の内容をもう一度試してみて下さい。

それでも、ダメならVine3.0にしてみて下さい。
